ABOUT THE SHOW

All who audition must be familiar with the stage play.  This production is not the For Colored Girl’s movie version.

Remember the interpretation of characters from the movie are not the same from the Broadway show.

A poetic emotionally charged choreopoem, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow is Enuf weaves together the voices of seven Black women—each identified only by a color. Through a blend of dance, music, and powerful spoken word, these women share stories of pain, passion, sisterhood, trauma, and triumph. This production will be set in a stylized 'Night at the Museum' setting where the women step in and out of life-size picture frames to share their truths, guided by the heartbeat of an African female drummer.

Preparation:
- Please prepare one monologue from a character in the show. Selected sides are available below- No need to memorize, but familiarity and emotional commitment are encouraged.
