CHARACTER breakdown
Harriet - 40’s-60’s.
Chief of staff. Any ethnicity. A political bulldog. Intense and professional. A female in a man’s world, she has learned to adapt and fit in. Her life, appearance and personality are all adapted to fit her career.
Jean - 40’s-60’s.
Press Secretary. Any ethnicity. A hawk in a turtleneck. High strung, quick witted. Can handle the pressroom and ready to sanitize any scandal. A single working mom whose only weakness is Bernadette.
Stephanie - 20’s-30’s.
President’s Secretary. Any ethnicity. An obedient millennial, terrified of failure and perpetually on the edge of a nervous breakdown. Brilliant but insecure. Must be able to dance.
Margaret - 40’s-60’s.
The First Lady. African American. An impeccable combination of high fashion, corporate experience, and political savvy. Regal, sophisticated and brimming with bitterness and pent-up rage.
Chris - 30’s-40’s.
Journalist. African American. Overburdened, under-slept, postpartum, newly divorced and feeling she is on the brink of irrelevancy. A dogged reporter with much to gain and everything to lose.
Bernadette - 30’s-50’s.
The President’s sister. White. A drug dealing dumpster fire. A coked-up tornado of butch sexual charisma, fiery temper and incredible wit. Freshly out of prison and wanted in three countries.
Dusty - 20’s-30’s.
The President’s pregnant dalliance. Any ethnicity. A glowing, curious, sex-positive young lady with a multitude of skills and a bright future. Civic minded, loves democracy and determined to make the world a better place. Must be able to sing and dance.

GENERAL AUDITION INFORMATION
Please bring a current photo that we may keep. You will be asked to fill out a Theatre Resume, with any prior experience...though none is required.
All auditions are held at the Milord Studio Theatre. 330 West 202nd Street—Chicago Heights, IL. 60411
Drama or Comedy – Be prepared to read from the script.
Musical – Check the specific show auditions for information on what to prepare. You will need to bring sheet music (in your key) for our accompanist. Be prepared to read from the script - and wear comfortable clothes/shoes for a dance/movement audition, conducted by the Choreographer.
Rehearsal Information can found by clicking on Staff Calendar and going to show audition month. (The calendar is easier to read on a PC, but a phone can be used. It is necessary to click on each date on the phone to discover the information.) All rehearsals and performances are listed.
Covid protocols set forth by CDC and State of Illinois for indoor spaces will be followed as well as protective guidelines followed by the League of Chicago theatres.
The Drama Group is a community theatre. Actors – These are non-paid/non-equity shows. The Drama Group promotes diversity in casting. Performers of all backgrounds, ethnicities, ages, sizes, racial identities, physical abilities, gender identities (and/or non-conforming) are encouraged to audition.
