2027–2028 Season Selection Process & Timeline
This year, The Drama Group is introducing a new, more collaborative season selection process designed to give stakeholders a greater voice in shaping our upcoming season while providing directors with a curated list of potential productions.
How the Process Will Work
1. Title Submissions | October 16–30
All DG stakeholders are invited to suggest plays and musicals for consideration through our online submission form:
Submissions will be accepted through Friday, October 30, 2026.
2. Season Planning Open Forum | November 4
Join us on Wednesday, November 4, at 6:30 PM in the DG Studio for an interactive evening of brainstorming, pitching, discussing, and voting on potential productions. This forum is an opportunity for everyone to share ideas, champion favorite titles, and help inform the committee's decisions.
3. Finalist Title Selection | November 20
The Play Selection Committee will review submitted titles, consider feedback from the forum, and evaluate potential productions. The committee will then announce a shortlist of 10–12 finalist titles for the 2027–2028 season.
4. Director Proposals & Interviews | November–January
Eligible directors may submit proposals for any or all titles on the finalist list they are interested in directing. Following the proposal deadline, the committee will conduct director interviews as usual.
5. Final Season Approval | January 26
The Play Selection Committee will present its recommended season slate, including proposed directors, to the Board of Directors for approval. The approved season will then be announced to the membership.
2027–2028 SEASON SELECTION TIMELINE
Friday, October 16, 2026 - Call for Titles Opens — Online submissions begin.
Friday, October 30, 2026 - Title Submission Deadline — Final day to suggest shows electronically.
Wed., November 4, 2026 - Season Planning Open Forum — 6:30 PM at the DG Studio.
Friday, November 20, 2026 - Finalist Titles Announced — Committee releases 10–12 titles; director applications open.
Sunday, December 20, 2026 - Director Proposal Deadline — Completed proposals due; directors sign up for January interviews.
Tuesday, January 12, 2027 - Director Interviews — Committee interviews prospective directors.
Tuesday, January 26, 2027 - Season Slate Presented to Board — Recommended productions and directors submitted for approval.
