Della’s cakes are legendary, even earning her a spot as a contestant on the “Great American Baking Show.”  Della, a vivacious conservative baker from North Carolina faces a crisis of conscience when Jen, a girl she helped raise, comes back home and asks Della if she would bake her wedding cake.  She is overjoyed at Jen’s request, until she realizes there’s not just one bride, but two, forcing her to re-examine some of her deeply-held beliefs, as well as her own marriage.

Della’s life is turned upside down, she can’t really make a cake for such a wedding, can she?  For the first time in her life, Della has to think for herself. 

The Cake is a dramatic comedy which takes a look at faith and family while exploring a contentious issue and somehow showing empathy for both sides.
