For students to feel comfortable performing in front of an audience, participants will:

• Develop access to their emotions for use in the creative process. 

• Free their body and their voice for a variety of character interpretations.

• Feel confident taking risks during the creative process. 

• Develop a bond and trust with their classmates and feel confident in their abilities.

• Develop communication skills through personal exploration and social interaction. 

• Develop an awareness of and a better understanding of their own impulses and instinctual behavior through improvisational games.

Enduring Understandings

Students will grow in understanding the process of play/musical production based on the following understandings:

• They have something important to offer to any production

• They do not have to be afraid to fail

• Concentrating on a task on stage will build confidence 

• There is comfort and support among an ensemble

• They need to trust and depend on each other in creating a work of theatre

• Improv performance

• Scenes must have a beginning, a middle, and an end

• Scenes must have a conflict

• Scenes must develop complications that build

• Recognize the importance of spontaneity in the performance experience

• Discover and demonstrate interrelationships of the characters and how essential it is that an actor be a member of an ensemble

• Subject matter within the show will be discussed with teens for better understanding and empathy.
