2026 Production: Little Shop of Horrors


Our Mission
The Teen Theatre Intensive is designed to provide young performers (ages 14–18) with a professional-level rehearsal and performance experience in a supportive, educational environment. Through daily rehearsals, ensemble-building activities, and mentorship from theatre educators, students will learn not only how to bring a musical to life on stage, but also how to collaborate, problem-solve, and express themselves with confidence.

We believe theatre is more than performance — it’s a training ground for creativity, discipline, and empathy. This program allows teens to stretch their artistic potential while preparing them for future opportunities in theatre, school, and life.


Curriculum Focus
The four-week intensive blends music, choreography, acting, and ensemble training. Students will explore the full range of theatre skills through:

  • Vocal Training & Musicality

    • Projection, diction, harmonizing, and learning how to sing in character.

  • Choreography & Movement

    • Dance and stage movement in numbers like *“Skid Row,” “Da-Do,”* and *“Don’t Feed the Plants.”*

  • Acting Technique

    • Character analysis, scene work, emotional truth, and comic timing.

  • Ensemble Building

    • Educational theatre games and group exercises that build trust, focus, and teamwork.

  • Technical Integration

    • Learning to work with costumes, props, lights, sound, and smaller Audrey 2 puppetry.

Why Little Shop of Horrors?

This quirky, high-energy musical is the perfect challenge for teens. It features:

  • A strong ensemble, ensuring everyone has meaningful stage time.

  • Iconic songs that balance comedy, drama, and style.

  • Opportunities for bold characters, big choreography, and some puppet work.

  • A chance to stretch beyond traditional “school musical” roles with material that feels both fun and professional.

Program at a Glance

  • Weeks 1–2:

    • Music & choreography foundation, character development, ensemble building.

  • Weeks 3–4:

    • Scene polish, transitions, technical integration, and dress rehearsals.

  • Final Performances:

    • June 19–21 (4 shows total).

Ending Product

By the end of the intensive, each student will not only have performed in a fully staged production of Little Shop of Horrors, but will also leave with greater confidence, stronger skills, and a deeper appreciation of theatre as an art form.



Teen Theatre Intensive 2026 Schedule

Dates: May 25 – June 18 (Mon–Fri)

Weeks 1–2: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Weeks 3–4: 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Week 1 (May 25 – 29) – Ensemble Foundations

Theme: Voice, movement, and first staging

Day 1 (Mon):

  • Welcome, icebreakers, read-through

Day 2 (Tues):

  • Vocal warm-ups

  • Choreo + Music: “Prologue (Little Shop of Horrors)”

Day 3 (Wed):

  • Character intros

  • Choreo + Music: “Skid Row (Downtown)”

Day 4 (Thurs):

  • Blocking first scenes

  • Choreo + Music: “Da-Do” (Street Urchins focus)

Day 5 (Fri):

  • Scene polish

  • Choreo + Music: “Ya Never Know”

  • Group reflection


Week 2 (June 1 – 5) – Building the World

Theme: Character depth + comic timing

Day 6 (Mon):

  • Music + staging: “Dentist!” (Orin + Ensemble reactions)

Day 7 (Tues):

  • Scene blocking: Mushnik shop sequences

  • Choreo + Music: “Mushnik & Son”

Day 8 (Wed):

  • Music + staging: “Feed Me (Git It)” (Seymour + Audrey II)

  • Ensemble improv

Day 9 (Thurs):

  • Scene review (Act 1).

  • Work transitions into “Suddenly Seymour”

  • Review

Day 10 (Fri):

  • Run-through Act 1 (with choreo/music so far)

  • Notes and reflection


Week 3 (June 8 – 12) – Polish & Act 2 Work

Theme: Energy, precision, and transitions

Day 11 (Mon):

  • Music + staging: “Suppertime”

  • Review

Day 12 (Tues):

  • Blocking Act 2 dialogue

  • Choreo + Music: “The Meek Shall Inherit”

Day 13 (Wed):

  • Scene clean-up (Seymour/Audrey)

  • Ensemble transitions

Day 14 (Thurs):

  • Choreo + Music: “Don’t Feed the Plants”

  • Review

Day 15 (Fri):

  • Full run of Acts 1 & 2

  • Notes and fixes

Week 4 (June 15 – 18) – Tech & Dress Rehearsals

Theme: Integration with lights, sound, props, and Audrey II

Day 16 (Mon):

  • Tech run: lights, mics, sound

Day 17 (Tues):

  • Full run with costumes & props

Day 18 (Wed):

  • Dress rehearsal with an invited small audience

Day 19 (Thurs):

  • Final dress (no stops, full energy)

  • Circle pep talk


PERFORMANCE WEEKEND

Friday, June 19 @ 7:30 pm – Opening Night

Saturday, June 20 @ 2:00 pm & 7:30 pm – Double Show
